This is from last weekend but I’m finally getting around to putting it up on YouTube. My dad was towing a trailer with his truck and lost control of it on a dirt road. He walked away just fine but his truck is a total loss. Not a great way to celebrate Father’s day weekend....

Sorry truck was totaled, but the important thing is that your dad was uninjured.

Really glad he is OK. Seen some horrible accidents in the past for the same issue; trailer getting its sway on. Know someone that lost their race car in a similar incident.

Slowing down after cresting the hill started the smaller sway occilations. The proper course of action is to slightly accelerate to get the trailer back under control. Continuing to slow down increased the severity of the sway, until the trailer took control of the truck.

Thanks. He’s towed trailers for 50 years and in this situation just panicked and lost it. We’re all thankful he was able to walk away from it but believe me this was a learning moment for him.
